Welcome to Angkor Wat, Siem Reap Kingdom of Cambodia

Angkor Wat was originally built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple but later became a Buddhist temple in the 14th century, which has contributed to its preservation.

Bayon Temple

Built in the late 12th century during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, Bayon was originally a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva but later became a Buddhist temple. Its unique design combines elements of both faiths, reflecting the religious transition of the Khmer Empire at the time.

Ta Prom Temple

Built in the late 12th century, The temple was constructed by King Jayavarman VII and was originally dedicated to the Buddha. It was used as a monastery and university.

Banteay Kdei Temple

Built in the Late 12th Century, Banteay Kdei was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII, around the same time as Ta Prohm. It was originally a Buddhist monastery.

Srah Srang

Srah Srang, often referred to as the “Royal Bath,” is a large man-made reservoir that was originally created in the 10th century during the reign of King Rajendravarman II. It was used for royal bathing and ceremonial purposes, and it served an important role in the water management system of the Angkor Empire.

Preah Khan Temple

Built in the Late 12th Century, Preah Khan was constructed by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century. The temple was dedicated to Buddha and is one of the largest temples of the Angkor complex, designed as a state temple and monastery for the king.

Neak Poan Temple

Neak Pean was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century, around the same time as Ta Prohm and Preah Khan. The temple was built in honor of Buddha and was dedicated to the healing powers of water.

Ta Som Temple

Ta Som was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century. It was dedicated to Buddha and, like many of the temples from this period, served as both a state temple and a Buddhist monastery.

Ta Keo Temple

a Keo was constructed in the late 10th century during the reign of King Jayavarman V, though it was later completed under the reign of King Udayadityavarman II. It was originally dedicated to Shiva, a Hindu deity, but the temple later became associated with Buddhism as the Khmer Empire transitioned toward Buddhist beliefs.

Banteay Srei Temple

Built in the 10th Century, Banteay Srei was built in 967 AD during the reign of King Rajendravarman II, although it was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva by his successor, King Jayavarman V. The temple is one of the few at Angkor that was not commissioned by a king but rather by a royal advisor, Yajnyavahara, a Brahmin.

Beng Mealea Temple

Built in the Early 12th Century, Beng Mealea was built in the early 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II, who is also credited with the construction of Angkor Wat. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, and it shares many architectural similarities with Angkor Wat, including its layout and design, though it is smaller and more secluded.

Koh Ker Temple

Koh Ker was built in the 10th century, Koh Ker was briefly the capital of the Khmer Empire from 928 AD to 944 AD under King Jayavarman IV. The city was abandoned shortly after his reign, and the capital was moved back to Angkor. Koh Ker is notable for its relatively short-lived importance, but it left behind an impressive collection of temples and monuments.

Roulous Group & Kampong Phluk (Tonle Sap Lake)

The Roluos Group was the location of the ancient city of Hariharalaya, the first capital of the Khmer Empire, founded by King Jayavarman II in the early 9th century. The city of Hariharalaya served as the Khmer capital before it was moved to Angkor in the 9th century.

Kampong Phluk is a unique and fascinating fishing village located on the shores of Tonle Sap Lake, approximately 16 kilometers (10 miles) southeast of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The village is known for its stilted houses, floating community, and its close connection to the natural environment of the lake.

 

East Mebon Temple

East Mebon Temple was built in the 10th century, specifically during the reign of King Rajendravarman II, who ruled from 944 to 968 AD. The temple was constructed as a state temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. It was originally situated on an island in the middle of the East Baray, a large artificial water reservoir created during the reign of King Yasovarman I in the 9th century.

Pre Rub Temple

Pre Rup Temple was built in the 10th century, during the reign of King Rajendravarman II, who ruled from 944 to 968 AD. It was constructed around 961 AD and served as the state temple for the king.
